The Little Paris Bookshop

I chose this book because it sounded intriguing to a lover of books.  However, the story left me frustrated with the main character, Monsieur Perdu.  What could have been a cathartic journey was disappointing and dull.  I do not recommend The Little Paris Bookshop.

Courageous Journey

Before I Forget:  Love, Hope, Help and Acceptance in Our Fight Against Alzheimer's by B. Smith, Dan Gasby, Michael Shnayerson

I wish I had a read a book like this before caring for my grandmother years ago.  She suffered from dementia and not much was known about the effects back then.  This couple's story is heartbreaking and heartwarming at the same time.  I recommended this book to a friend whose family member is going through this now.

Stretch that Brain!

It turns out you actually use your brain when you use your brain!  Your brain does much more than you think it does.  This book shines new light on your thought process and how to better use your brain.  A must read.  My brain and I really enjoyed this book.

The Mapmaker's Children

The Mapmaker's Children by Sarah McCoy

This was a great story intertwining past and present lives of two strong and resilient women. Very good read that left me inspired.  Looking forward to reading more by this author.

He Wanted the Moon

He Wanted the Moon: The Madness and Medical Genius of Dr. Perry Baird, and His Daughter’s Quest to Know Him.  By Mimi Baird, with Eve Claxton

This book was so insightful into mental illness from the inside.  I couldn't put the book down, reading Dr. Baird's often erratic own words.  Ultimately a sad but satisfying read.

Pilgrim's Wilderness

This book was so dull it couldn't give me a paper cut! I would only recommend it to insomniacs or as a gift for your worst enemy.

The Psychopath Whisperer

Just finished The Psychopath Whisperer by Kent A. Kiehl, PhD. I liked this book and found it easy to read as a layperson. Psychopaths are interesting enough, but learning why they behave the way they do is enlightening and frightening at the same time.  I would have liked to learn more about program that treats and rehabilitates young psychopaths.
